Jesus Very Natural Relationship between Excess and Right Celebration
Jesus is very subtle about it all at Cana
I'm preaching on Jesus at Cana this week. A few thoughts. Jesus has a strange relationship with celebration and excess. On one hand, like in nature, he facilitates riotous abundance.
A wedding SHOULD be a celebration where wine flows abundantly like when a fruit tree comes into fruit and there is NO WAY you can possibly eat it all. You MUST call the neighbors in to eat or the fruit will rot.
You see this in the parable of the wedding banquet. The hall and the tables MUST be filled even if you need to go out and pick up the beggars and the drunks lying around in the street.
The jar of expensive perfume poured out at the protest of Judas is properly spent.
At the same time Jesus, who turns the water to wine stays behind the scenes, sort of like the Creator who turns water from clouds into wine from vineyards through soil and sunshine.
Even @elonmusk recognizing something in Jesus as Savior by keeping the party going. He is the author of the party, and the party will transcend this age.
